The highly influential rock group from the 60s, Paul Revere and the Raiders, is coming to the Moon River Theater for a limited engagement this fall.
Most recognized for popular hits such as
Louie Louie, Kicks, and
Hungry, this old school garage band favorite has been recording albums and playing shows for more than five decades.
First forming in 1958, Paul Revere and the Raiders landed their first Billboard chart hit in 1961 with Like, Long Hair which rose to No. 38. The group continued to be successful in songwriting as they were picked up by Columbia Records in 1963 after recording Louie Louie, a song that is still played at every school dance, bowling center, and skating rink around the nation.
The Raiders' first number one hit on the charts was Indian Reservation which has sold more than six million singles. To promote this recording, member of the band, Paul Revere rode cross country on his motorcycle delivering the single to numerous radio stations all over America.
With the hard work put in to creating new, original tracks, and their willingness to promote themselves, Paul Revere and the Raiders has become a respected name in rock n' roll history. Their band's music has been covered by acclaimed artists such as Sex Pistols, Sammy Hagar, Motorhead, and The Monkees.
Paul Revere and the Raiders will not only be an incredible show to see live, but it will also be an opportunity to reflect upon music that has survived throughout five decades of rock n' roll. Currently the band features guitarist Doug Heath, Bassist Ron Foos, and Danny Krause on keyboards. These musicians have been part of the band for over thirty years. Newer members include singer Darren Dowler and drummer Tommy Scheckel.
