Halloween Activities in the Ozarks

Halloween is an exciting time for a family trip to the Ozarks. With everything from spooky Halloween-themed special events to corn mazes and hay rides, the area is filled with exciting seasonal events everyone will enjoy!

Just north of Branson in Springfield, you will find the popular Dickerson Park Zoo. Year-round, your family can view the amazing variety of animals that call the zoo home, but this time of year, the Halloween SPOOKTACULAR makes the zoo and extra-special family destination. This event transforms the zoo into a spooky yet fun place during the evening hours from October 21 through October 31. You will find eerie lighted pathways with ghosts and ghouls at various stations. The stations also provide the kids decked out in their costumes with candy and sweet treats! The Falls Resort and the Best Western Branson Inn and Conference Center at Silver Dollar City are excellent lodging options a short drive from the zoo.

Your family will also love visiting McKenna's Pumpkin Patch for a variety of fall-themed outdoor recreation. This pumpkin patch is located just outside of Branson on F Highway. Here you will find a children's wonderland with large slides, pony swings, pumpkin painting, hay bale mazes, tractor-pulled hay rides, face painting, farm animals, a tricycle race track, bonfires, and more! McKenna's is open in September, October, and November. Hotels nearby include the Gazebo Inn and the 1st Branson Inn.

In the Springfield area, you can visit Jones Farm Pumpkins for some Halloween-style outdoor fun. This farm area gives your family the full Halloween experience with a pumpkin patch where you can pick your own pumpkin, a corn maze, a hay bale maze and a pint-sized hay bale maze, horse-drawn hay rides, and other activities. The area also features a gift shop, a picnic area, farm animals, and a refreshment stand. The Jones Farm Pumpkins is open from September 24 through November 1. Hotels near the farm include the Falls Resort and the Best Western Branson Inn and Conference Center at Silver Dollar City.

If you're visiting Branson this fall, be sure to check out the Haunted House and Monster Asylum at Ozark Cemetery. This house of horrors is easy to find next to Walmart on the Branson Strip. There are no age restrictions to enter, but all ages should be prepared for a fright! This haunted house boasts state of the art animatronics and special effects to bring the ghouls, goblins, and other creatures that go bump in the night to real life for you. With eerie lighting and spooky music to add to the experience, you'll have a full dose of thrills and chills that will keep you spooked throughout the Halloween season. This venue is open at 9am daily throughout the year. You can stay close to the action at the Haunted House and the Branson Strip with lodging at the Castle Rock Resort and Indoor Waterpark, the Boxcar Willie Hotel, and more.

Your family will have a frighteningly fabulous time in the Ozarks this fall!

Castle Rock Resort and Indoor Waterpark
Despite all the negative comments that we read prior to staying here, we opted to take a chance anyway...the hotel was not as bad as everyone made it to be, I will have to agree with some things 1. beds are not very comfortable 2. chlorine in the water park area will burn your eyes, and they need some fans blowing in there to circulate the air. Other than that, we will definitely stay here again...we are thinking about going back around Christmas time. The waterpark is great, after a long day of shopping, go carts, putt putt golf, SilverDollar city just come back to hotel and kids will play for hours! Its not the Hilton, but it was a nice place to stay, everyone was friendly and we will definitely go back and we have told our friends as well
