"We're gonna take a picture first, just in case we all don't make it back." I remember bursting into tears as a child when the tour guide explained that not everyone comes back from touring Marvel Cave at Silver Dollar City. The world-renowned theme park historically traces back to the discovery of this seemingly haunted cave in the early 1500s. It's been a point of attention ever since, and opened as a theme park and an Ozarks attraction in 1894. The timeless appeal of Silver Dollar City seeks to retain these roots and carries with it the authentic feel of the hillbilly subculture that has long faded away.

The Shows: Silver Dollar City offers a variety of high-quality, professional shows, perfect for a diversion while children visit the park's many attractions. Some of the most popular are the Horsecreek Band (bluegrass, gospel and western swing), and For the Glory (a historic romantic show, the most elaborate one in Branson). The Rides: There are dozens of heart-pumping rides laced throughout the park, but the Wildfire is the ride not to be missed. At up to 66 mph, the ride has been described as a "high-flying, multi-looping, cobra-rolling" coaster.
The Crafts: Silver Dollar City explains that they wish to immortalize the trades and traditions that literally built our nation. Over 100 skilled craftsmen have committed themselves to preserving the history of our nation.
The Water Park: From its 207-foot triple drop slide, Paradize Plunge, to its 700-gallon spinning bucket, the Ozark's largest water park isn't exactly a quiet escape to the beach.
