To remember the historic
Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, which was where the first major Civil War battle west of the Mississippi took place, enjoy two days of living history.
Dedicated reenactors explain to visitors the why and how of this site, using both historic weapons firing programs, and even reenactments of the famous battle itself!
Visitors should explore the grounds, which is a lengthy walk but one that offers many significant sites, and especially check out the museum, in order to understand fully what had happened on that August day in 1861.
This site is located just north of Branson, and is close enough to Springfield to make it a fun day out as well as one of the scenic drives you can get.
