Branson visitors who are looking for a clean family fun, lots of high-energy music & laughter, and one of the best meals in Branson need to look no further than the Circle B Chuckwagon & Cowboy Music Show. I wasn't completely sure what to expect out of a cowboy music show and dinner, and although I went in a little skeptical, I came out understanding why the show was voted Branson's "Must See Show" in 2005.

The 500-seat venue itself is somewhat small in comparison to some other Branson dinner theaters, but it actually worked great to ensure that there was no bad seat in the house. The theater & dining area is designed in the style of the town square in an Old West town, and a true chuckwagon dinner is served. I was quite hungry by the time we got to the show (but I'm always hungry, so that's no surprise), so when I saw my plate filled with cowboy food, I was as happy as could be. Two large screens in the theater even showed a Western movie (I think we were watching The Lone Ranger) while we ate.

The meal includes smoked beef brisket, smoked beef sausage, baked beans, applesauce, baked potato, fresh biscuits, peach cobbler, and beverages. Needless to say, while I went in hungry, I left feeling completely stuffed. I couldn't get enough of those biscuits, and the beef sausage was among the best I've ever had. Honestly, I felt like the admission price to this show is worth the dinner alone! Besides serving great food, the cast of the show actually serve dinner themselves, making for even more personal interaction with the talented Horn Family. Everyone in the family is as genuinely friendly and kind as can be imagined, and they made sure we felt right at home. Their hospitality, fun-loving personalities, and incredible customer service were a special treat that I think is pretty hard to come by anywhere.

As we finished up our dessert, we were treated to a special cowboy poem that explained why the chuckwagon consisted of the food that it did, and watched a brief video that offered a little insight into the Horns. After that, the music and laughter on stage began. While the music was mostly classic cowboy songs, the show also featured some mainstream tunes like Marty Robbins' "El Paso," as well as a couple of gospel melodies. Michael is also a songwriter, so his original work was also showcased. The pitch-perfect harmonies of the family are definitely the highlight of the music, and all of the performers are extremely talented vocalists and musicians.

My favorite part of the show was the banter between siblings Mike and Katie. It might be because I have older brothers and I know all-too-well how siblings can be, but Mike and Katie's exchanges were hilarious as it was quite easy to imagine that they were not scripted. Plus, the whole family seemed to be having a great time on stage, and they all did an excellent job of including the audience in the fun. The jokes themselves were pretty "cheesy," but the Horns even made fun of the fact that they were bad jokes, which made them all the more funny. Best of all, though, the humor was clean, so kids and adults alike could enjoy them. In fact, there were several families in the audience with younger children, and they were all laughing throughout the show.

The show seemed to end far too soon, and by the end of it all, I had become quite a fan of the entire Horn family and their Circle B Chuckwagon & Cowboy Music Show. The family does an incredible job of keeping the music, food, and traditions of the Old West alive and entertaining for new audiences, and with the mix of humor, music, and delicious chuckwagon food, there's definitely enough here to please everyone in the family!
