Branson Shows Knows 7/21
Every week, our Branson experts ask our thousands of Facebook fans for questions about the city, shows, restaurants, shopping—anything in Branson they always wanted to know. Our gurus, once a week, select the top queries and hunt down the answers. Here are this week's top questions:
Q: What is new in Branson this year?
A: In the true nature of show business, Branson's show lineup is constantly changing and evolving, giving frequent visitors new options for entertainment! This year is no different, and there are more than 15 new shows premiering this year including Moses at Sight & Sound, Hot Rods & High Heels at Clay Cooper, The Legend of Kung Fu at The Whitehouse Theatre, Urban Cowboy Reunion at Clay Cooper, and Raiding the Country Vault at The Mansion Theater. For a full list and more info on each show, click here.
Q: How many gospel shows are there in Branson?
A: While most shows in Branson include a few gospel songs mixed in with modern tunes, from our count there are nine gospel shows in the area which are comprised entirely or almost entirely of gospel music. These shows include Twice Adopted, Sunday Gospel Jubilee, All American Gospel, Oh Happy Day, The Brown Family Gospel Show, Moses at Sight and Sound, Smoke on the Mountain, New South Gospel, and Faith's Journey & Friends: Absolutely Country, Definitely Gospel. There are also several free gospel shows available at various theaters on Sundays mornings.
Other shows that feature gospel music mixed with country, bluegrass, or rock 'n roll include Ozark Mountain Jubilee, AYO starring Voices of Glory, Blackwood Morning Variety Show, and GAC Sampler Show to name a few. There's definitely not a shortage of gospel choices in the Ozarks.
Q: Will Charley Pride be in Branson this summer?
A: Yes! Charley Pride will be performing for one night only at the Welk Theater this fall. The performance is at 7 p.m. on October 21, 2016 at the Welk Theater, located on Hwy 165 in Branson. Click here to pick up some tickets!
Q: Is The Wooden Nickel restaurant in Branson still open?
A: Unfortunately, The Wooden Nickel Restaurant has been permanently closed for many years now. While our gurus aren't sure of the exact date it closed, the consensus was that it has been more than a decade since this popular restaurant closed its doors for good. Coincidentally, there was an estate auction last month in which all of the decor, appliances, dishware, etc were sold. The auctioneer in charge of the liquidation told us that the building has already been purchased and will become a furniture store.
Q: Is there public parking in downtown Branson?
A: There is indeed parking available in downtown Branson! In addition to free city parking, which is limited to three hours, there are parking garages at Branson Landing and the Hilton Branson Convention Center. Additionally, there is a free trolley downtown which has seven stops around the area. If you're headed to a theater or major shopping center, however, you won't need to bother with any of that as most have their own parking lots.
