Fair Grove Heritage Reunion Festival
For being such a small town, Fair Grove, MO shows what it can do when the Heritage Reunion Festival comes around! You could walk around the festival for two hours and ever see the same thing twice. Lots of hand crafted home decor, poured candles, aprons and kitchen mitts, and seasonal crafts are what you'll find when wandering around this amazing festival!
When I arrived at the festival, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of shops and food tents set up, as well as the kids activities that dotted the festival grounds. Walking around the shops, the first thing I noticed was all of the pumpkins, painted with scary faces, goofy faces, and stitched scarecrows in all sizes. All handmade, you could see the pride on the faces of the very people who ran the booths and created the wares you looked at. Along with the pumpkins and Halloween decorations, I also noticed a lot of Christmas decor, from painted figurines to signs you can hang on your door.
Some other shops had more holiday neutral signs that included sports teams, marriage quotes, and quirky pictures of characters doing anything from fishing, to using the outhouse!
Some other things you can find wandering around the many shop filled streets include crocheted scarves, handmade wire and bead jewelry, wind chimes, and even throw blankets to decorate every space in your home, especially your wardrobe.
There are plenty of things to do for the kids as well, so they feel like the festival is for them, too! The festival has a petting zoo and pony rides, as well as face painting and a bounce house for your little one to spend some of their endless energy! They can even get fitted with star tinsel and ribbon fairy crowns, or choose their weapon of choice from the many wooden swords and shields available in the shops.
There are a fair amount of interesting activities going on around the festival on any given day, including log splitting with black powder, and a machine built to shuck corn. You can watch demonstrations of both, and get a good idea as to how the machines work.
When taking a break to eat, you can choose from multiple stops, including a homestyle cooking stop and BBQ, burgers and hot dogs, as well as snow cones, ice cream an kettle corn. Whether you're looking for a meal, or a simple snack, or cool treat, there is something for everyone in your family!
While there aren't many shows going on, make sure you catch the parade that runs through the center of the festival, and take in the sight of all of the local floats, church organizations, cars, and tractors being shown off.
The Heritage Reunion Festival is certainly an event you don't want to miss. Be sure you bring the whole family, and enjoy the food, fun, and entertainment taking place each day the festival is held!
