No matter what time of year it is, there are always fish ready to bite--so pick out your honey hole and cast a line. This man-made lake is named after an actual rock formation that currently overlooks Highway 165. The lake was formed by the construction of Table Rock Dam, which was completed in 1959. This massive structure soars 252 feet above the stream bed and required more than 1.2 million cubic yards of concrete to be completed. Originally, the Table Rock Dam was going to be placed over the rock formation that gives both the lake and dam their names, but the dam had to be moved after a network of caves and sinkholes were discovered at the site. Now the dam protects the city from the flooding of the White River and provides plenty of fishing and other attractions to the area.
For the non-anglers in your family, there is no shortage of fun activities around the lake. Stay at the Chateau on the Lake where you can relax in style and luxury after a long day of fishing and watch the sun glitter across the lake. Try some fantastic food, or explore some of the many shops in the area. For golfers, there are no fewer than six championship golf courses where you can practice your swing and plenty of natural beauty for everyone to admire and explore. If you're looking for entertainment, Branson is just minutes away and has more attractions, shows, parks and food than your family will know what to do with.
