Getting Into and Around Branson, MO

Although visitors can reach Branson by all modes of transportation, approximately 80% of guests arrive by automobile.

When driving to Branson the primary north-south artery into the city is U.S. Highway 65.   Highway 65 is a four-lane freeway that links Branson to Springfield.  This route is the one most used by tourists and also provides a linkage with other major routes, including Interstate 44 and Highway 60.

Highway 76 serves as the primary east-west route into Branson.  Highway 76 (also known as The Strip) has a major concentration of attractions in Branson.  Another significant east-west highway is U.S. Highway 160.  Both Highway 160 and Highway 76 are two-lane facilities.

Note that—especially at busier times of the year (summer months, November and December)--Branson's traffic jams are well known.  Since most shows start and let out at the same times, and most are located on the Strip, plan plenty of 'extra' time into your schedule.  Pick up a map and learn the side streets—it may help cut some minutes from your drive time.  If you plan on catching a bite to eat before the show, pick a restaurant as close to the theater as possible.  This way, you can park in the theater lot and walk to the restaurant (and, if all goes well, you'll get a good parking spot, be one of the first cars out of the lot after the show...).  And of course, it is always prudent to check road conditions for any construction.  The use of maps, as well as a call to your innkeeper can save you precious time and anxiety when planning the route you will be traveling.

Springfield-Branson Regional Airport (SGF) is approximately 45 miles from Branson.  All major car rental agencies are located at the airport.

To get to Branson from the airport, drive east of West Kearney Street from the airport.  Turn left at the first stoplight, which is the West Bypass (U.S. Highway 60).  Immediately take the Interstate 44 exit going east.  Travel Northwest on Interstate 44 for 6.8 miles to Exit 82A/U.S. Highway 65 South to Branson. Drive on Highway 65 to Branson for about 42.5 miles and take the exit of your choice.
