Masters Trout Championship
Do you love to fish? Are you good at fishing? Are you a competitive person? If you answered yes to these three questions then you need to enter the Masters Trout Championship. The Masters Trout Championship is an annual fishing competition held in beautiful Branson, Missouri. This year the competition is on Saturday, January 30th. The tournament is held at the cold water Lake Taneycomo that runs right through the middle of Branson. Rainbow trout and brown trout are abundant in Lake Taneycomo as well as crappie, bass, and blue angling. The Missouri Department of Conservation has deigned 3.5 miles of the lake as Trophy Lake enabling the rainbow trout and brown trout to get enormous.
Lilleys' Landing Resort and Marina host this tournament every year and it is open to the public. The tournament starts at 8 am and the weigh in is at 4 pm. The deadline for entries is 7:45 am on the day of the tournament. You must have a two man team and the cost to enter is a small fee of fifty dollars. The tournament is catch and release and the rules state that you can only use artificial bait. Only eight trout will be weighed in per team. Creeks and feeder streams are off limits and anyone breaking those rules is subject to disqualification. Anyone that receives a citation from the Department of Conservation will be disqualified and barred from entering any future tournaments held at Lilleys' Landing. There will be a rules briefing before the start of the tournament.
The winners of the tournament will win cash prizes. First place gets you forty percent of the pot, second place awards twenty five percent, third place is fifteen percent, and fourth place is ten percent of the pot. There is also a big trout pot of five dollars and $2.50 for biggest rainbow trout and $2.50 for biggest brown trout. Good Luck!
