New Season at Silver Dollar City
The fun and excitement in Silver Dollar City winds down during the coldest winter months, but the festivities start back up in the spring when Silver Dollar City opens its doors on April 2, 2010. You and your family will love spending a new season at this 1880's themed village filled with thrill rides, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and festivals throughout the operating season.
The Silver Dollar City 2010 operating season brings with it new rides that will leave your heart racing. Tom and Huck's River Blast will be unveiled in 2010, and gives your family a "splash battle" experience as you use water guns to fire at those on the shore while they are firing back. Tom and Huck's River Blast is located in the area where the old Tom Sawyer's Landing once stood.
Several exciting festivals are scheduled for the spring months at Silver Dollar City as well. From April 8 through May 9, 2010, World Fest is making a re-appearance as the largest international festival in the country. World Fest brings together performers of all types for an amazing display of international cultures. This upbeat festival provides you with an amazing and positive way to experience music, dance, and more from around the world. Some of the performers scheduled to appear during the festival include "Calpulli" Mexican Dance Troupe, "Foot Prints Diego Martin" Trinidad Drums and Dance, Zhejiang Chinese Acrobats starring the Balancing Monks, Russian Academic Band, and many others. A festival would not be complete without plenty of food and drink, and at World Fest you will have an amazing selection of treats to sample from around the world.
From May 13 through May 31, 2010, Silver Dollar City makes a festive transition into the warmer weather with the Bluegrass and BBQ Festival. The Bluegrass and BBQ Festival is sure to be a family favorite, bringing you together with some of the top names in the bluegrass industry including Rhonda Vincent, the Grascals, Dailey and Vincent, the Josh Williams Band, and others. Special events are hosted during this festival as well, including the Annual Single Mic Championship and the KSMU Youth in Bluegrass Band Contest. During the festival, be sure to sample the amazing selection of barbecue dishes on hand including Memphis dry rubs, tangy Carolina vinegars, smoky Texas tastes, and Kansas City-style barbecue.
