Branson may be known for its incredible live entertainment shows, but the area also offers so much more for you to explore and enjoy while you are visiting the area. Ralph Foster Museum at the College of the Ozarks
For decades, Ralph Foster made his mark on the region in a variety of ways, and with a visit to the Ralph Foster Museum at the College of the Ozarks, you can learn more about his incredible life and the many contributions he made during his life span as well as exhibits that cover the many changes in the region during his life. Here, you can spend hours perusing various exhibits including Western and Native American artifacts, items from the Beverly Hillbillies TV series, various weapons and firearms, antique dolls and household items, and so much more.
Wilson's Creek National Battlefield
You can also learn more about the history of the Branson area with a visit to Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, located in Brookline Township near Republic, Missouri. This popular historic attraction has been carefully preserved to pay tribute to the valiant efforts of those who fought in the Battle of Wilson's Creek in the Civil War in August 1861. This was a pivotal battle that marked a turning point where the Civil War carried over west of the Mississippi River and ultimately resulted in Missouri staying in the Union rather than joining the Confederate forces. You can spend hours here taking in the gorgeous landscape, traveling along a five mile tour loop, visiting Bloody Hill, and exploring the 1852 Ray House.
Table Rock Dam
You will also want to take some time to travel over to the famous Table Rock Dam in Branson. This dam was constructed in the mid 1950s on the White River, and ultimately created Table Rock Lake. You can enjoy spectacular views here and enjoy the abundant water recreation the lake provides. There are boating activities available from the many marinas on the lake as well as swimming, fishing, and more here, too.
