Show Spotlight: Baldknobbers Jamboree Show
Most people know that Branson, Missouri is home to many shows, but one of them stands out as the longest running show in Branson, the Baldknobbers Jamboree Show. This year marks the 51 year for this hilarious show, and it never disappoints.
The Baldknobbers Jamboree Show originated in 1959 with the Mabe brothers, Jim, Lyle, Bill, and Bob. The brothers would perform on the lakefront of Taneycomo after Bill and Jim's wives advertised the performance around town. The Baldknobbers borrowed their name from the 1880s vigilante group and were an instant hit among locals and tourists alike. Their show included the washtub bass, the dobro, a banjo, an old washboard, and a mule jawbone. When the side splitting show became too popular for the lakefront they converted an old skating rink into the first live theatre in Branson. In 1968 the Baldknobbers built their own theatre on 76 Country Boulevard that is now the heart of Branson's entertainment district thus paving the way for all the shows that were to come.
Besides being one of the funniest shows around, the Baldknobbers Jamboree Show features colorful costumes and great music from a variety of genres including country, patriotic, bluegrass, gospel, and more. Over the years there have been many cast members and acts added to the show. The show now consists of comedians Stub Meadows, Tim Mabe, and Jerl Adams; vocalists Patty Mabe, Joy Bilyeu, Brandon Mabe, Megan McCombs, and Denton Mabe; and musicians Ed Snowden, Bob Leftridge, Brent Mabe, Mike Ito, Jerry Adams, Jenni Lynn Collier, Jonathan Black, Dean Holman, and Rob Blackman. This very talented cast makes this show a must see for everyone who enjoys to laugh.
