The Most Wonderful Time of the Year Parade signifies the start of the Christmas season.
Santa and Mrs. Claus make their appearance at this parade to greet all the guests. People in attendance can also hear their favorite Christmas carols as well as see the Christmas tree lights at Landing Square at the conclusion of the parade. The lighting of the tree is an extremely popular event and is what many people come to see.
Of course, that isn't to say that this parade isn't fun by itself. There are many great characters that go down the street during the parade. The Parade Grand Marshall brings in the Christmas Season, and Branson's own mayor usually makes an appearance as well. Even Nat King Cole shows up to help bring in the holiday season. This parade journeys down the historic section of Branson that is decorated for Christmas. This parade is usually in the beginning of November, which might seem a little early, but the weather is usually nice and the tradition has been going on for some time.
In addition to seeing Santa during and after the parade, there are a lot of things for visitors to do to help bring in the Christmas spirit. Once the parade is over, local restaurants all open early for lunch and many stores have special sales so you can begin your Christmas shopping early.
