About Vicki Lawrence
Born in Inglewood, CA, Vicki Lawrence honed her stage presence from a young age. While she was attending high school, she auditioned for and won a position with the Young Americans musical group. With the band, she was able to go on tour and perform at the Oscars. She also performed on the Andy Williams Show.
Her acting career began by chance. After competing in a local pageant, a newspaper reporter dubbed her, 'a young Carol Burnett'. After Vicki sent a fan letter to Burnett, she actually came to see the pageant. At the time, it so happened that Carol Burnett was looking for an actress to play a younger version of herself. Lawrence eventually got the part and started working on The Carol Burnett Show.
After celebrating much success as the character 'Mama', NBC created its own show starring Vicki Lawrence called, Mama's Family, in which she starred. The show ended in 1985, but that didn't stop Lawrence from appearing on sitcoms like Laverne and Shirley, Roseanne, and Hannah Montana. She also released the hit, 'The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia'.
Do not miss out when this fiery comedian turned actress turned singer visits the Branson Stage. For one night only, you'll be able to relive the hilarious career of Vicki Lawrence herself.
