The preserve is located in the city of Lampe, Missouri and apart from some services meant to make park visitors more comfortable the landscape is relatively untouched. The first tracts of acreage that were used for the park were purchased in the early 1990’s by angler Johnny Morris the founder of the national outdoor gear retailer Bass Pro Shops. The Dogwood Canyon Nature Park is under control of the Dogwood Canyon Foundation. This is an organization that was established to preserve and protect the canyon. The Dogwood Canyon Nature Park is open daily to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Park visitors have several activities to choose from walking, trail bike rides and Segway tours are available to all visitors. Horseback riding tours are available by reservation and for park visitors who are less active tour tram tours are available to view the wildlife. Fishing aficionados can fish for rainbow trout in the spring water. Fitness enthusiast can take advantage of the adventure pass which is valid for one day but allows a park visitors to participate in several activities at a discounted price. An adventure pass gives access to hiking, biking and walking tours, the wildlife tram tour, and two hours of fishing. The park has all kinds of activities for adults and children that are available to the public. In order to effectively plan activities throughout the day, visitors should check the park for hours of operation and reservation requirements. The Mill & Canyon Grill Restaurant may have different hours of operation.
